Vacation Bible School 
Week long, half day programs offered at various sites throughout the greater Lawrence community during summer school vacation. This program has been offered without interruption since 1955 and now regularly has over 800 participants. It is offered without cost to the local church, with all materials provided by the Council of Churches. This program was awarded the 1997 Ecumenical Service Award by the National Council of Churches, Washington DC.
This summer of 2009 the program will be SonRock Kids Camp by Gospel Light. At this writing (June 12, 2009) we have 14 churches commited and anticipate over 1,000 kids from the neighborhoods of Lawrence. There will not be any VBS programs by Communities Together in the suburbs of Lawrence this year. Programs that are held in the morning will start with a box breakfast and end with a box lunch. While the schedule is still developing, here are the churches that will participate this year.

Aug 3 - 7 Third Baptist Church, 22 Warren Street (mornings for 2 weeks)
Aug 10 - 14 Free Christian Methodist, Essex Street (mornings)

All locations are in the City of Lawrence. Morning programs start at 9:00 a.m. Evening programs at
5:30 p.m. Many morning programs start with a box breakfast and end with a box lunch.
